January 2025 Employment Law Update

NELGPC shared the January 2025 Legal Update slides which Debra Dyleski-Najjar, Esq. presented as Legislative Director of the Greater Merrimack Valley Human Resource Association.   During the program, she discussed recent enforcement activity of the USDOL, as well as recent court decisions addressing the higher standard for employers to establish “hardship” in religious accommodation cases, the EEOC’s recent warning for employers using  “wearable technologies” as conducting unlawful medical examinations,  the EEOC’s recent guidance to help physicians support patients needing pregnancy accommodations under the PWFA, and the recent changes to the H-1B regulations revising the definition of specialty occupation and formalizing the student “cap gap”  extension.  As employers are updating handbooks and reviewing policies, the presentation is a guidepost outlining traps for the unwary.
